I've heard of this Rosetta Stone application, and i'd like to know if itsuseful in some way, or is it just another flashy piece of rubbish?

It looks OK from the online demo.

However, you can get all of the information for free from websites, rather than paying $209 for it (approx 37,080 Hungarian Forint). It is not worth that much. I suggest you just use the net for free sites:
guidetojapanese.com is good
there are loads out there though, so search and find it free.
It will be easier to understand on the net normally, as it is written by everyday people.
I leave the decision up to you though.

Ahh thanks, i'll keep that in mind. Well you convinced me, that Rosetta Stone thing looks just too good, and too perfect... yeah its unnatural.

Thanks dark_secrester. I hadn't seen this site yet. Its a good source for learning online.

I understand that the rosetta stone demo sucks. Basically, the demo covers only one aspect of the rosetta stone program. It is supposed to have full fledged lessons and stuff, but it's not in the demo. I used to be against rosetta too until I found this out.

I do not recommend just getting stuff for free off websites. Structure is very important in learning Japanese and free sites suck as a textbook replacement. They can be good reference material, but any structured free lessons on the internet do not take you nearly as far as a textbook or non-free program.

If I were you, I would just wait and take Japanese in college or some form of school.

I will try to do that once im in university, for now im attending to classes, 4x45 mins each friday, good or bad there's no alternative since that is the only course in my town, but i study separately too, whenever i have free time.

I noticed that he was not old enough for classes so I didn't say anything.

Nothing does replace textbooks and CDs (and tapes) for learning
However, you can get some stuff and learn it.

Derfel, was I right about the price being 37000 forints? Is that the currency you use where you are? I like to know when I am getting things wrong so I can correct it and apologize...
