okay first of all sorry for the to many qeustions the same week, hope i dont anoy people to much....

my qeustion:

as i will be going to live in japan next year, and i am a non native, getting work for me can be harder then for native, so thats why i did a toeic test with a score of 895 (damm 15 point would let me be on the highest level) and soon i want to start the Tefl course... online!!! have a look here http://www.onlinetefl.com/

does anybody have expierence with the tefl course, the online course? please let me know!!!! thanks you guys

To be totally honest with you, I'd say TEFL courses are a bit of a waste of time. They're not really a well recognised qualification, they're unregulated and I've never seen a school say, "Wow - he has a TEFL certificate - we have to give this guy a job!"

Do it online and what have you got? A teaching qualification that gives you no experience of actually teaching in a classroom.

Have you thought about trying for a CELTA? It's much more widely accepted and it's also often recognised as the minimum standard for teaching many English speaking countries (e.g. the UK, Australia etc). It's also regulated by Cambridge University Examining Board so it has much more credability.

well excualy i saw a couple of job ads that asked for this... and seeing from there website, i dont think it is that bad, as it give *i think* a good basis from being an english teacher? ( did you had a look on the site btw?)

i looked for the celta course, and yes i admit it looks nice and i am sure it is better then the tefl, problem is, i can only study in the evening or the weekend! and the course is on day time from 9 till 6 on monday and friday. and the test cost around 1800 euro... while the tefl online course i can do that in the evening, and the weekend . and cost 300 ...

i wish i could take the celta one.. but yeah like i said.. the tefl course fits me better now... why do you think tefl is a waist of time? it is better then nothing i think..

it is a waste of time but you're young(like me) and every little thing helps to find a job. its better to have it then not to have it. i have tesol its the same thing though check to see if yours is a tax right off thats always a bonus. you can get a tesol cert online but mine cost 1000$ can. www.globaltesol.com

Is there not some big Japanese language test taken in December each year in various places around Japan and the world.

I know there is one in London in Decemeber and it will give you a level 1-6 i think from beginner to fluent.

I think that is generally a very well known/recognised one.

I forget the name, maybe it was already mentioned.
