Hello everyone I'm from North Carolina and I love Japanese culture! I love the modern life style, the mythology, the media, the language herself, the food, the women. Everything about this country seems quite interesting to me
Anyway about me I am 15 years old, second year of high school. You guys can call me whatever name you want to call me, I don't really care XD. I want to be a video game programmer or video game designer for Square Enix when I grow up (my dream is to work on one of the Final Fantasy games). I also have other dream jobs but they're not on my mind now ;P. But to do that of course I have to master the Japanese language and work hard! Also I'm a bit... off, just an fyi, so it's best not to get too close to me XD. Anyway it was nice meeting you all~

Your into is fair enough, but what do you mean by a bit off? Personally, I think all people are a bit off, since we compare ourselves to media averages. Sites like this get lots of young people who are interested in Japan based on video games or anime, and many members give them a hard time. I won't do that, since I think whatever reason you have to travel is valid.

Keep studying Japanese. It is something you can do. And keep trying to improve your programming skills. Just keep in mind that if you feel you have problems in N. America, they will probably be even worse in a foreign country where the language is a second one, and the culture is foreign to you. If you are having personal problems that make you feel 'off', then it's best to sort them out at home before coming abroad.

But you can definitely do it! I'm utterly average, and have been in Japan over a decade.

A bit off as in...mmm... well (it's hard to explain)... I guess to describe it is basically I can start acting like a bratty know-it-all kid sometimes especially with things I don't agree with.

Thank you for not being one of those people though and for the warm welcome! ^^ And yeah I know how most teens think Anime is very huge in Japan when (correct me if I'm wrong..) it's kinda the equivalent of comic books and superhero related media and for most people it's kinda seen as ridiculous.

And thank you again, for this boost in my confidence!! But I think the biggest problem I'll have with coding in Japan is that I might have to relearn Coding terms and commands in Japanese :\. And don't worry I think I'll pretty much keep to myself if I am given the chance to live there.

Anime is huge in Japan, and a lot more mainstream than comics in the west. When you go to the barber shop or to a ramen shop, often there is a little manga library. People casually read it without thinking much of it. Being "into" it heavily is not as cool, but it also depends on the crowd you're in. If you're with artsy people, they will have a lot more interest in it. I was out with some 20-somethings last month, and a lot of the women said they were into Evangelian.

No matter what though, you just need to be what you're into, not be shy about it, and show others the respect you'd like to receive in return. That is a surefire way to end up in the right crowd.
