Anyone ever actually win a free beverage with that little gimmick on the Dydo vending machines where it tries to match the four numbers on the numeric LED displays?
I figure these things are rigged, 'cause it very frequently lands three of the same number and the last one is off by one, and I've never seen it spit out a free drink.
I bet they have a weighted probability system or something, based on whatever first random number comes up.

I sometimes won a free drink from those machines, not often, but it was a welcome treat when you did win. I think it's a great gimmick. Too bad beer and whisky machines did not have them in the past.

Outside my old boxing gym there was a sports drink vending machine. (Amino Suppli, vitamin C drinks, all those good ones) and I never got the 7777. I must have bought like.. I dunno, I went at least 3 times a week for a year so well over 150 drinks at that machine alone, plus any others I bought while wandering around Japan, and I never, ever won.

Once.. I got 7776.. (_ _)


Pachipro must have a secret trick! And, I agree, a free Suntory whiskey or Asahi once in a while would be good for business.
 
I had one outside my last apartment and i bought coffee in it at least ones a day for 2 years and i won twice so its not really common but it happens

And yeah a free tall boy outta one of those beer vending machines once in a while *would* be something special...
 
The probabilities are almost certainly decided by the person/company who owns (or contracts for) each individual machine. After all, they're the ones paying for it, not Dydo.

Same thing with the GariGari-Kun ice treats and the chance to win a free one. The retailers tell the factory what portion of winners they want, if any, when they order their supply of the product.

Short answer: It is likely that there is no general answer that applies to all Dydo machines.
 
I run about 12 machines and thank god they don't have this crappy feature. But mike is right ,it is the owners who decide.
 
I guess that makes pretty good sense.

Well I thank the owners for at least having them as, like I said above, it's a great gimmick and I would often choose a machine that had it just to see if I could win. Might be something for you to think about as I frequented them BECAUSE of that feature! Could be more profits in it for you. Besides, they were no more expensive than any other machine.
 
Too much of a hassle (I know, that seems like a very lame attitude to have when it would only take a few minutes each month. But when you are over loaded with work that is one hassle you don't want). I instead have choosen to lower the price across the board.
