Member Relay Talk Vol. 4 Hitsugi & RUKA
The fourth shot with this members' relay talk is Hitsugi on guitar and RUKA on drums. Their common interest are bikes. Speaking of which, the two are excited to go towards this old bike shop with a small high tension. This interview's theme is "hobby." If we dive into these two's resistance, there will be lots of surprising proof one after another.
We're here with the two of you today to talk about your interests. First is about bikes being your common interest.
Hitsugi: I think it was little bit more than a year ago when RUKA* said he had an interest in bikes. During the middle of photographing, he said he wanted to ride one some time ago.
RUKA: Somehow this time, I want to see how it's like to ride it.
Spring is getting closer, isn't it?
RUKA: Yes.
Hitsugi: Ruka and I both said we wanted to ride bikes around the same time in the first place. I said the Sky Wave (Suzuki's scooter bike) is really cool. But because of RUKA's action, he got his license for it and immediately started riding it, thinking "This is nice." But by the time I managed to get my license for it, it was too late because RUKA got bored with bikes (laughs). He said "I already drive a car" and ended up giving me the Sky Wave.
RUKA: Was that the year before last?
Hitsugi: ... Around autumn or winter. RUKA, you haven't rode for a year already, right?
RUKA: No, I haven't ridden.
Who has an upcoming story about their car or motorcycle?
Hitsugi: Well, I used to love cars also when I was in junior high school. So RUKA would talk to me about it once in awhile, but not in depth though.
RUKA: It was just material on riding.
Hitsugi: Yes.
RUKA: I can't talk about these kinds of things with the other three.
Hitsugi: Zozii (YOMI) for some reason thought there was a car called Tsuboree (car company name) (laughs). He actually meant Chevrolet's Corvette.
RUKA: But recently, Sakito's begun standing out when it came to cars. He said he wants a Corvette.
Hitsugi: It's still an expensive car (laughs). Both Zozii and Sakito are getting their mopeds right? Ni~ya also just got his license as well. RUKA and I both said to buy a car soon.
What did RUKA recommend?
RUKA: Chrysler 300C with a Dodge charger.
Hitsugi: During the time I was on an airplane, there was an ad inside a plane magazine I saw and I thought "Isn't this car cool?" I spoke with RUKA about it afterwards and he said it was, too.
I see. Basically, your liking of cars and bikes are similar.
RUKA: I went and test drove a Chrysler. After riding in it, you know how it feels to ride in a Dodge, Benz, and a Lexus.
Hitsugi: You didn't ride in the Hummer?
RUKA: I rode in the passenger's seat. But for example, when there are five cars lined up, it'd be interesting to see the personality that comes out of it. My car would be huge, Ni~ya's would be a minivan and Zozii's would be a taxi (laughs).
Hitsugi: (Roar of laughter) Is that why you didn't buy it?
RUKA: It's impossible for me to buy it (laughs). Finally, Hitsugi's would be something like a VIP car.
Hitsugi: That long thing? (laughs) But Sakito unexpectedly felt like getting his license earlier.
How did you come to have fun with bikes in the first place?
RUKA: I didn't like riding it from what I remember (laughs).
Hitsugi: I love driving it. I don't get tired after driving it for a long period of time and it's fun. RUKA made a huge plastic model of a bike that looks like the one he remodeled. You have one of a car also right?
RUKA: Yes. The car's exterior is different. I also lowered the car's height and changed the muffler as well.
Hitsugi: It became very sparkling didn't it?
It stands out doesn't it. So are there any other common interests you two have?
Hitsugi: Dogs?
RUKA: Oh, that's right.
Hitsugi: RUKA's character doesn't seem like the type to be affectionate towards his dog amongst other things, does it? People would say something like "That's why that guy's an idiot." However, having the dog is starting to give him that sense of affection (laughs).
The two of you are raising chihuahuas (Toraou and Cocoa) right?
Hitsugi: The time I met Toraou-san (RUKA's pet dog), he was still really small wasn't he?
RUKA: Yeah.
Hitsugi: It seems like it's gotten a lot bigger now (laughs).
RUKA: Yeah, around 4 kilos.
Hitsugi: Mine is about 2 kilos. That's why it's still so small.
RUKA: It's probably because mine is a part Dachshund mix.
Hitsugi: Looking at Toraou's image, it looks like he has a lot of love and respect for you.
What is one way Hitsugi is affectionate towards Cocoa?
RUKA: I don't really see the excessive direct contact when he brings Cocoa on scene (photo shoots, etc.) But it's the surroundings that collects this.
Hitsugi: (Bashful) Why am I not embarrassed with something like this? Besides, I have to take special care of him since everyone else gives him so much love and affection.
Cocoa isn't shy is he?
Hitsugi: No, he isn't. He'll bark but he won't bite.
RUKA: He won't?
Hitsugi: Nope. I trained him not do. However, when he's angry, you're angry with him. In RUKA's case, it's a bit more... (laughs).
RUKA: Because I want to throw him away (laughs).
Isn't your dog getting bigger even now?!
RUKA: Yeah. I think on the way to training him, the objective didn't change often.
You seem to be a strict father.
RUKA: But recently, I've become somewhat passive (laughs).
Hitsugi: Kind of like a cat (laughs).
RUKA: But the legs are clearly thicker in comparison with the other Chihuahua (laughs).
Hitsugi: Hahahahaha. The time I get mad, I'm like an ordinary nose pin (laughs). Recently, I bring my finger close to my face in preparing myself when it reaches that point (laughs). After that, my eyes become agreeable to what the bad thing is.
RUKA: Ahh, I understand.
Hitsugi: It's a bad thing to do that to your face though. But I still get angry.
You both want to properly train them.
Hitsugi: I don't want to throw mine way though (laughs).
RUKA: Also, I understand Toraou's bad ways and I feel angry when he escapes. He doesn't raise his footstep sounds in front of my eyes though (laughs).
Hitsugi: (Roaring laughter)
RUKA: He really keeps a low profile.
Hitsugi: It's not a scratching sound, it's not scratching sound.
RUKA: It's more like a progress to crawling (laughs).
Hitsugi: (laughs) Ahh, swiftly.
Then, what are the dogs' most pleasurable times?
Hitsugi: During the times we can play, especially when he can chase after something. After I call his name, he would seem really happy while running back toward me.
RUKA: There's a lot of interesting stories, but when I take Touraou along for a ride, he seems to look pitiful. A lot of readers are probably laughing at this...
I can feel the love from your opinions.
RUKA: Toraou's way of sitting is bad.
Hitsugi: Bad, bad, bad. Don't dogs ordinarily seem to sleep on sofas?
RUKA: He sits next to me like the directness of a human, like when your stomach sticks out as you sit and face someone (laughs).
Hitsugi: Then, let's watch a live DVD together (laughs).
RUKA: I think I would lend Toraou to Zozii for one day next time (laughs).
Hitsugi: Wouldn't Zozii end up worn out in defeat? (laughs)
(laughs) What are your worries up until now?
Hitsugi: When I'm under stress, I think what's wrong with the lower part of my stomach when I take someone to the doctor. After that is how can a woman with such a small body give birth to a child? It must be emasculating. I would be worried from the time of hospitalization until the time the mother and the child get home.
RUKA: Ah, he said it.
Hitsugi: You really can't move at all when your tension is low. It's probably the anesthesia's fault, but I don't know if I wasn't feeling well then and I probably looked pitiful like that.
RUKA: I don't have anything in particular.
You get healthy quickly then.
RUKA: No, I'm constantly worried. That's why I've given up guzzling down cola from the beginning (laughs). A thudding sound came from the shampoo bottle after I used it the following day. So I ended up knocking down a can of cola and it became sticky (laughs). That can't be helped. When I went to check the shampoo again, it ended up only being something lying underneath me (laughs).
It's good to be busy.
Hitsugi: I wanted to meet Toraou in my house once.
RUKA: Ah, he needed underpants (Toraou is a male) and he didn't stop because of that.
[Usually, it's the female dogs who need underpants/diapers because of their periods if you don't spay them. In this case, I guess it was when RUKA was still toilet training him. I could be wrong. I don't have any pets.]
Hitsugi: That'll make him sink (laughs). Well at that time, it looked like he was wearing a complete defense armor (laughs).
Hahaha. Then, let's continue with this long association, are there any surprising mutual tastes with you two?
Hitsugi: We've been acquaintances for a few years now and I was a little surprised when I heard RUKA loves idols.
RUKA: Really?
Hitsugi: You said Maki Goto-san was really cute during Momusu's** height of prosperity. I thought you had the sense to say "That girl is cute, right?" and you really turned out to be a fan. He even has the jersey (laughs).
[** Shortened version of Morning Musume. They're a very popular all girl pop group. Formed in 1998, they've gone through about 7 generations of members because they 'graduated' aka kicked out, decided to do other things with their career, married or too old. Maki Goto was in the third generation of Momusu.]
RUKA: I had it.
Hitsugi: "What~?!" (laughs)
RUKA: There isn't anything in particular that surprises me when it comes to Hitsugi's hobbies. It's probably just the scope inside my imagination.
Do the two of you have multi-varied interests between Nightmare?
RUKA: Zozii has very little (laughs).
Hitsugi: Zozii's is gambling (laughs). Ni~ya's hobby are darts. Sakito's are games, reading, and amongst other things. RUKA and I have said our hobbies come from what we feel we like. But in RUKA's case, he gets tired of it immediately.
Do you read about your interest for about a year or is it longer?
RUKA: Longer.
Well, after having all these interests, does it seem like you're doing any of them now?
Hitsugi: It would be the electric gun, air gun, amongst other things for me. I want to do a survival game but it would be painful for me to be defeated. So that's probably not doable (laughs).
RUKA: There's none for the time being for me.
What is the hobby you got tired of the fastest?
RUKA: There's too many of them I don't understand. There's too much to be taught from them. Recently, I would understand things if I thought, "I'll probably use this if I buy it." I wasn't able to start or use it in the end. And since everyone plays darts, I thought of playing it as well, but I absolutely couldn't do it so I stopped.
Hitsugi: (Surprised) RUKA, you thought of trying darts?!
RUKA: I thought about it. When Ni~ya started playing, I thought it'd be awkward if I didn't play as well (laughs).
Hitsugi: (laughs) Why?
RUKA: I thought it wouldn't be good if I didn't try to communicate with the others (laughs). I went to a darts house, but I ended up going to a darts bar surrounded by skillful people and that made me irritated (laughs).
Hitsugi: We were surrounded by darts since everyone had them.
Where will you go during the middle of your tour?
RUKA: Ni~ya will go alone.
Hitsugi: Yeah.
RUKA: He'll probably use his mobile phone to check out the neighborhood darts bar (laughs).
Then while we're talking about the tour as the last topic, your ZEPP tour begins on March 8th with enthusiasm.
Hitsugi: It's been a long while since we've been back to the live houses. That's why doing this will get us in the mood in getting personal experience for myself and I want to have fun with it.
You're still going to perform the new song even though there's no sound source?
Hitsugi: Is that possible?
RUKA: Probably (laughs).
Hitsugi: If it happens, we'll make sure it'll be an awesome song for people to hear it.
