Negatives

Okay, so the verb form of "try" is "kokomiru". How would I say "Don't try"? Would I be using the suffix "-ない" or "-ません"? And also, how could I make the sentence "Do"? As in just the one word. Would it be "する を します"? Hmmm...Better yet, could someone help me with the phrase "Do right for the right reason"? I know, I know. Lots of questions. I would be much obliged if someone could help me though. どうも ありがとう！

[dicionary form] [polite form]

to try:
kokoromir-u kokoromi-masu
kokoromi-nai (negative) kokoromi-masen
kokoromi-ro (imperative) kokoromi-nasai

to do:
suru shi-masu
shinai (negative) shi-masen
shiro (imperative) shi-nasai

Checking how verbs conjugate would be helpful before going on to the next level... ;-)

We won't normally say kokoromiru when we mean try in English.

Do you mean in the command form?
する → しろ
やる → やれ
