I finally listened to the whole Horizont single!(i just copied this entire lot what i wrote from occult proposal XD)
I really like it... I like Horizont better without watching the pv cos i can concentrate better on listening to the details. ^^ Actually i quite like the flute, it's an interestin new touch and takes nicely the melody ^^ and i like the way it contrasts with the bassline (which is pretty cool!). The melody is nice and laid-back but not too... how to say?... plain, vox nice an clear ^^... are there some echoes of Utagoe tune in the melody?! whatever... yup i like it
Shinshiki : sg about the rhythm at the beginning reminds me of Tonbi!... it's neat and catchy... but what i like most here is the way the song is unpredictable at the beginning so u can't immediately tell what mood it is gonna take... to me that is interestin... I love that...and I like the staccato bits, and the crunchy guitar playin... *too tired to think up more to say* XD
As for Shoufu : I don't remember well the original, and was too lazy to relisten so i could compare :sorry: ... anyway i like this, gives a heavier touch to the single (a bit like previously they did with the reversion of Daikirai ^^), and the quieter point in the guitar break works really well imo.
So yeah it is lighter than previous but that's ok imo... actually i think there could have been a tad more contrast in Shinshiki or maybe even just a touch more pace to lift it off a bit from its previous song, but standin alone i actually love it... i get the impression of songs that would grow on me a lot over time.

Has there ever been an interview with the band where they explain why they shift between so many music styles? It just strikes me as a bit odd because they started out as a very hard rock/metal-type band, but they changed their sound to be a bit more like pop/rock with the release of "Houyoku." Then they released "Gerbera" as a single, which seemed like they were going to continue with the pop/rock sound. But, then they released "6," and when I heard it I could have sworn Mucc was going back to the days of "Kuchiki no Tou."
And then came the trifecta of "Ryuusei," "Utagoe," and "Horizontal." I love these songs to death (as well as Mucc in general) but I can't help but feel like the guys are confused and are still just experimenting. It certainly doesn't matter what style they settle on since the songwriting is always top notch, but I've never really known a band to bounce back and forth between two extremes so quickly and frequently.
... the way they seem to be able to do that without seeming directionless, and still have a recognisable sound... i mean, i'd recognise a MUCC song anywhere, whatever the style, and yet their style never becomes the same and boring... it's hard to explain what i mean
