Workers dressed as ninjas have been removing weeds from a castle's stone wall in Koka, Shiga Prefecture, a city known for its ninja history. The costumed staff appeared on the stone walls of the Minakuchi Castle ruins and gave playful ninja calls before beginning their work.

The activity serves both as regular maintenance and as a way to promote the city's ninja heritage. Using ropes to move down a stone wall about nine metres high, their movements sometimes resemble the popular image of ninjas sneaking into a castle, though in a staged way. Visitors at the ruins stopped to watch and take photos, turning the clean-up into a small local attraction that matched Koka's image.
