MICHIBIKI successfully launched!!

The H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 18 (H-IIA F18) with the first quasi-zenith satellite "MICHIBIKI" onboard was launched at 8:17 p.m. on September 11 (Japan Standard Time) from the Tanegashima Space Center.

MICHIBIKI, literally means "Navigate" in Japanese, is aimed to establish Japanese-version of GPS (Global Positioning System), improving accuracy of location data from US satellite.

The enhanced location data will help develop more unique Car-Navigation system as well as Watching-kids-system.
