Hi, I hope I've chosen the best forum to post this.
I am studying an MA in English Language Teaching at Leeds Metropolitan University and am looking at writing my research based dissertation on a Japanese high school context.
I'm interested in two main subject areas that I've covered in other modules and they overlap.
1) The preference for Native Speaker English and how this stacks up against other forms (English as an International/Global Language/ English as a Lingua France
2) The implementation of Communicative methodologies in Japanese High School ELT.

I'm going to need questionnaires and some interviews. I believe there will be ethical issues with interviewing minors and anyway my Japanese is pretty much non-existent so I doubt I'll be wanting current high school students as respondents. I am more interested in :
1) Adult Japanese with experience of ELT in Japanese high school.
2) ELT teachers in Japan (Native or Non-native).
3) Anyone connected with policy/planning in the subject area.
I realise this is all a bit vague at the moment, I've not had approval for my proposal yet and don't have a definite research question but it's due in in September so I'm planning already.
Everything will have to be done online, I'm in the UK all summer. I'll post more precise information as the process develops, if you have any advice or are willing to help, or have any questions please let me know on here or by PM.
Let me know if there's anything you don't want me to repeat/quote, it's quite possible I'll be referencing this website, for example. Anyway, those issues will be clarified before I conduct the research proper.
