I've heard that the Japanese name "Kiyoshi" means "quiet". Is this correct? Does it literally mean "quiet"? If a Japanese person were to see the word "kiyoshi" would they know it meant "quiet" or is it like American names where no one would know the meaning behind them automatically?

It doesn't really mean quiet, one meaning is more like pure/clean....but I don't know if that is the name kanji or not.

"Kiyoshi, kono yoru, hoshi wa, hikari..."

I am sorry, I just couldn't resist...! DOH!
