While browsing JRef and changing pages I noticed I was logged off for some reason as I always check the "Remember me" box. This never happened before.

My intrusion detection alerted me that "jucheck is attempting to connect to a DNS server." LOW RISK

Program: jucheck.exe

Path: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_02\bin\

Remote address: 68.87.68.162 : 53

It didn't seem to be a problem as it advised me to "allow connections from this program on all ports (recommended)"

Since I had never received this notice in the three years I have been on JRef and noticing that JRef has been attcked recently I want to be sure that this is a JRef program before allowing an exe program as many unknown exe's may contain viruses and/or trojan horses.

I'm sorry, but I cannot help on this one. This information is primarily for Admin JP alone. . . at least on this side of the globe--although Dutch Baka may possibly have some idea of it.

It's not JREF-related, it's a harmless JAVA module. More info here.
 
jucheck.exe has nothing to do with jref. It is the name of the Java updater, and it is in the place where it should be, so in all likelihood, you've got nothing to worry about by allowing it.
But either way, the file should not affect your jref experience.
 
Thanks for the quick replies. Since it said...jre1.6.0 I thought it was Jref related. Still can't figure out why I was logged off automatically though. I guess stuff happens! thanks again
 
Hehe. JRE is the Java Runtime Environment. Funny coincidence. I don't think this forum will ever place .exe files on your computer.
 
Correct Jref has some Java Elements, this is also the reason why its so slow, and the chat is also an element of Java, because its a Flashchat.

I hope now thing are cleared Pachipro

I don't think the forum uses any Java. Certainly not on the client side at least. And chat runs in Flash, not Java. That's why it's called Flash Chat.

JREF does not use any Java elements. Perhaps you refer to JavaScript. The forum was slow, because of the attacks I have described in another thread and because we are in the process of rebuilding our stats.
