Japan is launching a new initiative to attract more tourists by reducing the time needed for airport entry procedures. The pre-clearance system will enable visitors to complete most entry screenings at departure airports. Upon arrival in Japan, those who have completed the process will only need to go through simple arrival procedures. The government plans to start this program for travellers from Taiwan next January and expand it further after evaluating its effectiveness.
