I am a japanese science writer of nationwide paper. I have established the site "Japan Research and Analysis through Internet information".

This site consists of columns which discuss social phenomena in Japan.

The latest column is "Net-Based Cultures Have Reached a Turning Point".
"The Japanese Automobile Industry Has Broken a Taboo." and " Men Getting Fatter, Women Getting Thinner","The Music Industry Is Sliding Down a Slope of Self-Destruction","How the Internet Is Saving Japan from Becoming a Nation of Lifetime Singles "have acquired reputation too.

Original columns are wrighten in Japanese, and have many links on news sources. (Japanese web: 団藤保晴の「インターネットで読み解く!」 )
They have won tens of thousands readers through the newsletter and the web. English edition columns was translated and introduced by PHP Institute Inc. monthly magazine "JAPAN CLOSE-UP" mainly.

Perhaps you may direct me to a site or forum dedicated to the Heian Era. You may also know be able to direct me to translation tools, since I do not communicate well in Japanese. I am very interested in culture and have some knowledge that I have gained from reading books. But I would like to exchange and discuss things that I do not understand. Larry

Hmm, how can I put it. The translations aren't that bad - but they have obviously not been written by a native speaker of English.

I note you have many articles that have not been translated into English. I am not a professional translator by any means but I, and possibly others, might be interested in translating some of those articles for practice.

The big two in the U.S. automobile field, General Motors (GM) and Ford, are struggling with a business slump. During the period from Jan. to Mar. in 2005, Toyota and Nissan's automobile sales showed growth rates of more than 10%, while the big two's sales decreased by a few percent; it is expected that GM will suffer from serious losses amounting to 850 million dollars and Ford will also see a serious decline in profits. Japanese automobile companies, which are launching offensives in North America and China, produced 10 million cars outside Japan in 2005, comparable to the amount manufactured within Japan. Although the places for manufacturing automobiles are evenly divided between inside Japan and overseas, no remarkable hollowing-out phenomenon has been observed in the automobile field in Japan. This fact represents the astonishing competency of Japanese automobile firms, but I wonder why there is a growing expectation that this competency will not provide any happiness to Japanese society and the world...

Hmm... Paul. We are planning to do translations of Myers-Briggs descriptions on our Global Intuitive site. Your post has me a little concerned about translation of these. These are actually free translations to the public. Would we get in trouble? And would you be interested in translating these to Japanese for practice?
