An Hideyoshi's administrator turned battlefield warrior! That's as unlikely as a reality TV show moron becoming the leader of the not-so-free world!

Researchers at Saga University said on 13 February 2026 that they had reconstructed the face of Ishida Mitsunari from a skull replica held at the Kyōto University Museum. Assistant Professor Kawakubo Yoshitomo, a physical anthropologist who studies ancient human remains, carried out the work with colleagues at Saga University. The team analysed the replica using detailed measurements and a 3D scanner.

They built the facial features using data on bone and skin thickness among modern Japanese populations. The area around the nose had been damaged, so the researchers used a new method to estimate the missing shape from the surviving skull structure.
