I'm From Northern California. My son who is 13 wants to be an exchange student in Japan in about 3 years (senior year). So, I get to learn as much as I can about Japan, even the language, so we can study before he goes. He introduced me to Japanese Rock, which is all we listen to now. Never been to Japan, but would like to remedy that in the next few years. Thought this would be a great place to learn and converse. Also, today I was assigned a communications paper on a culture I don't know well and am interested in. So, I am choosing Japan. Not sure what area i will write about though. Hope to meet lots of interesting people and gather great info here

Welcome to JREF, nestowa!!!
You should check out the chat room!!!

Hi Nestowa ! Welcome To The Forum !!

WOW, that's really neat, a mother son team up! If you're willing to take time to read old posts and use "search" there's a lot of info to help your son reach his goal. Some of our young members have gone to Japan or are in Japan now doing just what your son would like to do. You won't find a nicer bunch of people then here on this Forum. And when it comes to information on anything to do with Japan, it's covered here. Glad you found JREF, post often and enjoy, both of you!

Frank

Hope you enjoy yourself here. Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the forum. Have fun
Should get plenty of info here, if not post a question.

Greetings from the Japan Alps ! The heart of Shinshu (Nagano), the heart of Honshu (the main island) !! I will do what I can to help too, if I can. I've lived here for almost 21 years now, have a son who is 17, one who is coming up on 13 this Thursday, and one 11--wow, three of 'um.

Let me know what theme you may end up choosing, or what particular subject you wish to know something about. I may be able to help you on that or those.

I'm sure you'll enjoy looking through all that's here !! See you 'round !!
