I'm 17 and a student and i have been informed of homestay which sounds good! But does anyone have any good sites or places on where to get the best deals and has any one ever dealt with homestay programmes? At The moment i'm looking at [langubridge.org], can anyone lend a helping hand on what would be best for me?
Are you still looking for something? Depending on what kind of situation you're looking for, I think there are some programs that will accept minors over 16...
I know it's none of my business, but you could try getting a part-time job. I bet jobs over there in th U.K. don't pay as ****** as in Mexico.
So, get a job and make an arrangement with your parents saying you'll pay 'x' part of the trip or that you could pay them back once you go back home.
I just set up to do a homestay in Kyoto through a program (but they only take people over 18). I've been through the initial stages of contact with quite a few different programs out there-- If you've found some that look good, I really recommend emailing them and asking questions so that you can kind of screen things before you set it up. It's also helpful if you can look at an application form (the more information they ask for the better).
