Some tourist establishments are preparing for post-pandemic travellers - for those with deep pockets, that is. One turret of Hirado Castle in Nagasaki was converted into luxury accommodation, a shirohaku ('staying overnight at a castle') facility. One night at the castle will set you back a whopping 600,000 JPY.

I hope it includes breakfast.

I hope it includes breakfast.

"The 600,000-yen nightly rate covers up to five people but does not include meals. For an extra fee, guests can order dinner and breakfast, made using speciality ingredients from Hirado's seas and mountains by a dedicated chef in a kitchen newly added to the building."

Only for an extra for the chef and his entourage.
