Hi, how are you all?
I've been working in Japan, as an English teacher, for just over a year now. So far I've been living in rural Okayama. In March, I've got myself down to transfer within my company. My company is nationwide so it's pretty much a get-out-the-map and choose a place kinda thing.
I've never lived in a city before, and decided it's time that I give the bright lights of the Japanese city a shot. So, I could do with some advice from people that have been there and done it.
I'm not a hugely outgoing person, as in I like to go out and have fun every now and again, but I also need a fair bit of downtime. So, I'm thinking maybe it's a good idea to start small? Or is it still possible to get some down time even in the big cities?
The only place I can't go, is the Tokyo area. So far, I'm thinking Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka.
My other choice is Okayama City, a small city with not a lot going on but that's nearby, and easy to transfer / move to. It could be that this sort of thing would suit me fine, as compared to what I'm used to, bars, shopping, and other necessities seem to be fairly abundant. But, in terms of meeting people, and finding people I can really click with (Japanese isn't much of a problem, I'm getting that down pretty quickly) does the size of the place really matter? What do you guys think?
I'm also interested in a bit of a music scene. But really, any input is appreciated!
