I read many thread in another forum about gaijin card, i'm very curious, what this is all about. Is it simply a passport or sumthin'?

"gaijin card" is a relaxed term for "Alien Registration Card" or "Certificate of Alien Registration" and I believe that anyone who will be in the country for longer than 3 months at a time is required to get one. Will you be here longer than that?

Alieeens???

Ahahha..that's why i didnt get a gaijin card when i was in Japan..3 month's or more....yes yes ... ...Alien card??..is it good or bad in ur opinion ?

You can find on the web probably a few million words worth of gaijins debating the evils of the gaijin card. I do hope we're not going to reprise the topic again here.

Suffice it to say that no matter your opinion of the thing, if you'll be here over three months you are legally obligated to register and have the thing with you at all times.

If you visit for less than three months, you are expected to be able to produce your passport when asked by the police. I'm guessing that the gaijin card serves this same purpose, and lets the longer-term visitors/residents leave the passport at home.

Alien

Ah yes..then i'll stick to the positive side : Gaijin card replaces passport..kinda easier to bring..Make sense.Thank u..
Mike Cash : Yes, i had seen million of these words in the web : Gaijin and Gaijin card, but surely i dont know what this was all about. Now somebody here have told me about it and i understand..So i agree with Mike, no more opinion about this matter..ahaha..
