dutch linux/vi/python/ maniac ..

Hi all!
It took a few years, but the thought that I might not be able to learn Japanese with just a few books has finally entered my thick skull. As a hobby, I am trying to read LOTR, and I am now at a point where I can read a lot of words, but I still don't understand many sentences..
Japanese is really a terrible language!!!!!!!

I hope to hang around the language forums/fora, asking questions and maybe also answering them (I studied japanese for a year at a university, but it feels like I'm an absolute beginner.. )
I would also/otherwise be very interested to meet native speakers who would like to help me out with the language, possibly in exchange for help with dutch or english..!!
Stats: 27/m, Interests: japan and china, takkyuu, boardgames (osero, go, chess), computer programming (linux, c++, python), dogs, motor cycling .. (though I'm too scared to drive.. )
