Do British Passport holders need visa to go on 1 week Holiday or more to Japan?

Hihi!

I just want to confirm cos my travel agent is 1st time use in Hong Kong! I got a British passport and I bought tickets to Tokyo then skiing in Hoikkaido.

DO I NEED A VISA?

I went there on a New Zealand passport (probably treated similarly to a UK passport) and they gave me a 90 day visa when going though customs at the airport.
