I was reciently watching a program with Gackt and the little presenter from Hey Hey Hey sorry i don't know his name

Anyway they where playing darts

But they started with the number 301 and subtracted there score

I'v never seen darts played like that i thought the score was added up and whoever had the highest score in so many rounds won

At least that is the way it is played on tv and the way my brother and dad play

is the subtract version the way darts are played in Japan

actully i my self am not allowed to play darts anymore

for some reason they always bounce of things so when i throw the dart everyone runs

How come i'v never seen it before :?

I'm thinking my brother and dad don't know as much as they say

Is it played in proffesinol comps like they show on sky do you know ?

They show it on TV here occasionally, usually competitions from the UK. It's the way I've always played, and it's always available on those machines you find at bars.

Hey...when you play darts, miki78 san, you've gotta do what is right--MeAndroo has given us the correct hint there in his avatar--you've gotta have that beer. Now, that may be the reason the darts don't go right...you weren't drinking beer, or hadn't drunk enough yet to make the darts go straight.

The above voices are correct in saying the '301' is a common game. '501' is also out there, and in both, a player has to hit a double first, to start the subtraction (a double is the outer most circular ring) and then end up on zero with a double. So, if , by random hits--though of course trying to hit intended numbers--a player works the number three hundred one, down to three...the player will have to hit a single 1, then a double 1 to finish his or her game. If another player finishes to zero before that player is lucky enough or skillful enough to hit that double 1, then the other player wins.

The game I love to play, however, is chase--at least that's what I've always heard it called and called it. Three hits in the decided ranges (usually bull's eye, triple, double, then 20 down to 15) closes that range out, and the winner is the first person to close all the ranges out having also over scored any outstanding points. (those points are collected by hitting a range that the opponent has not closed yet, but you have.)

I do NOT like the electronic dart boards, they cause even more randomness it seems, because the bounce back is more than on a standard pig hair board (don'T tell SVF). I LOVE to play darts....but don'T forget the beer !!! MM

I always play better with a beer - have a funny reputation by beating a friend while a little too drunk and having to lean onto a chair for support

I prefer to play around the board since its easier to understand and quicker to play with people who aren't used to playing darts - starting with 1 you have to get all of the numbers up to 20, then the bullseye. You get 3 "turns", so at most you can advance 3 numbers in one go.

Hee Hee you really like Beer huh Mars Man

I don't drink but my bro would agree with the darts and Beer though

When i throw a dart i kinda run so it just lands where it hits the floor the wall a toe and oftain it bounces off and once almost hit someone in the head

We baught a board with plastic darts but i still maneged to get the darts to rebound and almost hit my brother so Tee Hee i'm baned

Hm.. I've watched a lot of darts games on tv, and I can tell you that "501" is the most common type of game. And Marsman, in the games I saw they didn't (championships games mostly) start with a double. You indeed need to end with a double though.

It kind of surprises me Miki, that you do not know this, because darts is very popular in the UK.

I play 301 and 501 most often. I have an electronic dart board at my home and the boys play with me quite a bit. I actually let them move closer to make things more fair!

301 and 501 take more skill than just tossing the darts and adding scores.

I agree though, beer definitely makes the game more fun!

So...we do have some dart players on the forum... !! NICE !! You all come on over to my place next Sat. night, and we'll play all the games...and I'll provide the lubrication--Kirin, Asahi, Yebisu, Orion, etc.

BUT...miki78, please do not run. Just stand in place and throw it. Oh, and I'll let you have the closer spot--just like CC1 (and I also) allow our kids to do. When I remodeled the dozo upstairs, and put in the new floor, all laid it all down so that there is one noticeably thin flooring plank which is quite exactly at the correct distance from the board. Then, after two larger ones, there again is a thin one for the little people--or those who feel comfortable closer.

Thanks for the info leonmarino san. I'll keep that in mind then.
