Hello~~

Well, I had a question about conjugating adjective, since apparently there are two ways. I just wanted to know which way is used to most or something... The book uses one, and just tells you about ther other... so anyways:

i-adj.:

present: 楽しいです
past: 楽しかったです
negative: 楽しくありません/楽しくないです
past-negative: 楽しくありませんでした/楽しくなかったです

na-adj.:

present: 元気です
past: 元気でした
negative: 元気じゃありません/元気じゃないです
past-negative: 元気じゃありませんでした/元気じゃなかったです

Depends on politeness. Obviously the one with -masu is more polite.

Ohh, ok. My book just says some speakers follow a more regular conjugation, where desu is inert in both polarities. dadadaa

Well its not like the book is lying, it just doesn't tell you why's that lol.

You should really use the more formal では with ありませんでした。

Not necessarily, adding では just makes you sound ultra formal / more direct which isn't always the best choice in every situation.

What I meant was there really are not that many "half-way" (sukoshii kudakete) cases to which "ja arimasen" applies.

Normally it is either "de wa arimasen" or "ja nai" deshoukane....
