Im interested to know what do the Japanese really belive in. What is exactly Shintoism? Why is there a similarity that I see in Shintoism with Buddhism. Is there some synthesis of some kind over the years. Are Japanese religious?
Maybe you refer to the younger generation? What about the elder generation? Say those from the post second world war days, not those in their twenty something. Are they materialistic too?
That was just my assumptionm maybe because what I learn from history that Shintoism and Budhism and to a certain extent even Hinduism have some impact on Shintoism.
Maybe you are better informed about this and can clarify this matter for me. Im just curious
