It's not like in America most (if not all, I'm not sure) states have a sales tax, which in Georgia is 6% on most goods or 2% on certain food products (mostly the same foods that qualify for WIC). These amounts are never added to the ticket price, but rather at the register. It is actually much more convenient to have it added in. And if the 100en shops were to lower their price to make the "with tax" amount 100en, then they would be taking a hit on everything--it's not the stores that get that money, it's the government.

I can't recall ever seeing such at any of the ones I went to, but then again, it's been a couple of years since I've been to one. Not too mention, I've never been to one in Osaka. Still, you shouldn't have any problem finding inexpensive Gundam models. I got a couple for like 500 yen a piece at Tokyu Hands (a big arts/crafts/other stuff store) in Tokyo. Granted, they weren't huge 500 piece models but I did get a cool Zaku who still stands at the ready on my desk for a price that I could well afford.

the 99 store (104 store) sells the CD of the annoying music. Who actually buys it, I can't figure out. Unless it's for someone you really don't like. I would stay in there longer and probably buy more stuff too if they changed the theme song. Instead, I'm left rushing for the door, wretching and writhing in pain as the voices in my head tell me put that can of tuna through the front window.

Honto? Man, I'm gonna buy one, I love it! And it will drive Minako up the wall, she is sane and hates it.

how much does a perfect grade, or what ever the best grade of gundam model is. How much will it possibly cost? And what are the chances I will find a good wing zero model, or any other gundam wing model?

About 4,500 100 Yen stores are in business in Japan, even there are few overseas branch stores scattered mainly in Asia.

One hundred Yen per any piece! Do you think it cheap?

If you ask shoppers in 100 Yen store the same question, maybe 95 percent would say yes.

Why? Because, they are desperately convinced with a hypnotic that they are saving money and they are not in buy-anything trance.

Point 1: The real notion of 100 Yen store is that people buy something on emotion and justify with logic later.

Point 2: Everybody wants to live like in ﾂ"The sex and the Cityﾂ". They want to show off their shopping spree to others; like ﾂ"Hey guys, look at my stuffs. I'm buying a lot. Please agree I'm really opulent!ﾂ"

100 Yen Stores thrive taking the hungers' money using their miserable achieving desire.

Another big problem is that it's truly expensive and that its purchasing is based on human right hazard.

Next time, you will hear of the secret of law enforced fraud of 100 Yen biz.

I think Monroeville's point was, that when you go into a store that's really cheap (equivalent in UK would be '£1 store' I think), you end up buying a load of crap that you don't actually want or need, but you're conned into feeling compelled to have it simply because it's not costing very much. So, although the individual prices are cheap, the stores are getting their profit out of you because you're buying senselessly.
