Are they like 私は李で、大学生です。?

Yes for the first で, but no for the second. The second の indicates the location of action.
e.g.
夢の中で、彼女に出会った。

By the way, can we use 私の記憶がない部分に to show the location of existence (of 可能性)?
 
に would sound odd here. As Toritoribe-san explained, で is the location of the action 殺してしまっている, not the location of the "possibility".

The 可能性 is not what exists in the (abstract) place described as 私の記憶がない部分.
It's something the speaker is consciously aware of and considering now.

No, we can't. The functions of だけ are different between those two examples. The one in your initial post means "only/just", whereas the newest one is "as much as~/to the extent of~".
