空間震は精霊がこちらの世界に現れる際の空間の歪みが原因で引き起こされるからだ。

Hi. Can we use の instead of the が in red here? If so, why is が used here?
I think if の is used, then 精霊がこちらの世界に現れる際の空間の歪みの原因で is a noun phrase where the underlined で marks the reason. If we use が, then 精霊がこちらの世界に現れる際の空間の歪みが原因で is a clause where the underlined で is a continuative form "... and ...".
Do I get it right?

No. 空間震は空間の歪みが原因（だ） means that 空間の歪み is the cause of 空間震, while 空間の歪みの原因 means "the cause of 空間の歪み".
