Tamanohikari Brewery in Fushimi, Kyōto, was founded in 1673 by Nakaya Rokuzaemon (中屋六左衛門), who received his license from Tokugawa Mitsusada (徳川光貞), the grandson of Ieyasu and the second lord of the Kishū domain in modern-day Wakayama. Rokuzaemon was devoted to Hayatama Shrine in Kumano, Kishū, and named his sake Tamanohikari, honouring the shrine's principal deities, Izanagi-no-Mikoto and Izanami-no-Mikoto. Tamanohikari Sake Brewing Co., Ltd. was founded in 1949 and moved to Fushimi in 1953. Tamanohikari is known as a producer of premium junmai and ginjō sake.

The initial scent is sweet, reminiscent of white wine, with distinct notes of dried fruits. It invites you to take a sip and explore further. The approach is sweet and relatively heavy, coating the palate with a velvety and viscous texture. Surprisingly, there's minimal acidity dicernable, allowing the sweetness to shine through. The finish is mellow and sweet, leaving a delightful aftertaste. This sake beautifully marries the best of both worlds—sake and wine. It's an excellent introduction to the world of sake for wine lovers.

I am more inclined to the sake side of things, hence only three stars.
