Oguro Brewery (小黒酒造) was founded on 1 October 1909, when it started brewing sake at its current location in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, with a minimum production license of 300 koku. The brewery quickly expanded its production and sales by adopting modern techniques and equipment, such as enamel tanks and commercial bottling, in the early 1930s. Despite the challenges of the wartime regime and the controlled economy, the brewery managed to survive and continue its operations as a factory.

In 1952, the brewery was incorporated as Oguro Sake Brewery Co., Ltd., and in 1963, it completed a new sake brewing factory. The brewery also increased its capital to 10 million JPY in 1965 and launched a new brand of sake called Koshino Umeri in 1988. In 1986, the brewery renovated and rebuilt a part of its factory due to the construction of a new urban planning road.

The brewery achieved a remarkable feat in 1995 when it received the highest award at the Kanto-Shinetsu Regional Taxation Bureau Liquor Appraisal, equivalent to first place in the sake section. The brewery also embarked on a capital investment plan in 1996 to improve the production capacity of high-quality alcoholic beverages.

In 2002, the brewery became one of the first in Japan to be registered as an organic JAS-certified factory by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. The brewery also created a new brand of sake called Kasan in 2009, inspired by the region's natural beauty and history. In 2014, the brewery was acquired by DHC Corporation, a leading health and beauty company, and its name was changed to DHC Oguro Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. In 2016, the brewery changed its name to DHC Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. and continued producing high-quality sake with tradition and innovation.

This sake has a lovely aroma of fruits and a silky smooth texture. It has a sharp and dry taste balances well with the sweetness and acidity. It also has a rich umami flavour that enhances the quality. The finish is long-lasting and spicy, leaving a pleasant aftertaste.
