Taira Shokoku Kiyomori

Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (月岡芳年; aka Taiso Yoshitoshi 大蘇 芳年; 1839-1892), Taira Shōkoku Kiyomori, depicting the legend of Taira no Kiyomori's sun-beckoning (1883). In 1165, while dredging the Ondo Strait, Kiyomori was nearing completion when the sun set. He raised his fan and called out to the sun, "Go back!".
