Battle of Kan'ei-ji

Utagawa Yoshimori (歌川芳盛), The assault on Kan'ei-ji Temple, referred to here as "The Attack of Honnō-ji" (本能寺), took place during the Battle of Ueno. On the left, the Shogitai (彰義隊) soldiers are depicted in traditional samurai attire, while on the right, the Imperial forces, wearing modern uniforms, are shown. The "Red bear" wigs (赤熊, Shaguma) signify that these soldiers are from the Tosa Jinshotai (迅衝隊).
