What do you think about the Morning Musume split

Morning Musume is being splitted, that's a reality, its most famous members are leaving the group... Isn't this a great risk? I like Momusu a lot, but I wouldn't say this is a good idea.

it rarely is, but that's probably why they started the group? to be able to spin off into (hopefully) more successful ventures? is the management going to change? that would be telling (very informative)...

You say the famous members are leaving, but are they disbanding all of Morning Musume? The older members always leave every few years. If this is the standard rotation they go through, don't worry, some other cute people will take their place soon. If the group is being split, some other set of young dancing girls will soon rise to fill the pop power vacume.

(If they are disbanded as an entire group, my apologies, but I might do a little jig!)

Actually, they don't split up, as in break up. The group just gets seperated into two different groups.

It's probably for the better. Such a large groups is hard to manage. And i reccon with two groups they can make twice the money. :D

I know the group is just separated in two, but I don't think it wil be better, at least for me. I mean; the group has an identity, and they might lose it being divided... They won't be Morning Musume anymore, but just two sort of subgroups more.

Is it a permanent split? I recall that at least a few times the Morning Musume unit was split into various sub-groups for temporary projects... is this one of those splits?

As far as i know this is a permanent split. It was big news earlier this year when it was announced.

Man, it sounds bad. But in fact, it also could be temporal; I mean, those two groups will be smaller while more member leave, and they could be one again if they are 5 and 5 (for example)... Of course, both groups could also grow in members and if it happens, it will be a mess.

I think..😌

Morning Musume is a nasty blob that eats and dissolves all opposition. It sometimes divides in too smaller groups to destroy small villages and stuff and then does horrid dance routines. It won't ever die.

sounds like an amoeba or protoplasmic lifeform.... :p

Personally, I really don't care for this group....seen them make fools of themselves on Downtown's HeyHeyHey show every now and then, and can't say them girls are the brightest light bulb in J-society, but when the J-pop universe brings such Tarento (?) amongst the rest of the universe, and they remain popular throughout these years...makes me rather sad that real talent is getting shoved out from the mainstream media viewership.... :D

But who is doing the shoving? In part yes, networks, but in part the viewers. Lets face it, while they might not be talented, they get viewers to tune in. Sure, maybe it is because they are the most interesting thing on the 8 odd channels most households get (cable and dish tv is not as common as in, say, the US).

Once you are famous in Japan, you are famous for life. I'm seeing people I saw on tv back in 1996 when I first came to Japan (darn I feel old). Come back in ten years at at least one member of Morning Musume will still be kicking around the shows. You get your 15 minutes of fame in Japan, and it is like a train pass; you can always renew it.

Yeah, I thought it was funny, so I said, "Hey, since this is funny, I'll put it on as my avatar!" And put it on I did.

It's always good to see when someone is getting a good aerobic exercise wearing spandex.

Too true, too true.👏

I've got the impression that split was only a one time thing, since they're releasing another single as one group this week.

The group was split up for the september 18 releases of Morning Musume Otomegumi and Morning Musume Sakuragumi.
