the medias in Vancouver here is going crazy about the Todd Bertuzzi's violent act against Steve Moore.
Bertuzzi grabbed Moore from behind, pushed him onto the ice,and kept punching the back of Moore's head,
Moore is now in Vancouver Hospital
and the Vancouver police is investigating about the incident
Bertuzzi was pissed of that during a game last month,Moore injured Canucks captain Markus Naslund and caused Naslund to miss 3 games,
so Bertuzzi decided to attack Moore.

I just watched the press conference of Canucks general manager Brian Burke
he said something right,in hockey (and other sports) we talk about adrenaline, play hard, compete, and sometimes the players crossed the line

do some people actually think fighting is a part of hockey?
I mean,in the game of hockey there is a lot of contact, hits,
but I don't think fighting is acceptable
I think the NHL should suspend the players for fighting, like the NBA does.
there is just too much violence in NHL,I turn on the tv watching hockey games or hockey news and then there are guys throwing punches in many games

i remember when i was in elementary school,a social worker told me that he saw his son,who plays hockey, throwing punches against the punching bag
so he asked his son,'why are you practicing punches? aren't you supposed to be practicing hockey?'
he son answered 'i have to practice this,in case if i get into a fight in a hockey game,so i could beat up the opponent'

Kill,kill, People Love Violence!!

Issue them all 44MAGS and let them shoot it out!! The crouds will love it; they won't even mind if an occasional spectator gets shot as long as there's enough blood on the ice!!
I wouldn't be surprised to see sports becoming like the Gladiator days of Rome, thumbs up or down?

Hockey is a very brutal team sport. But so is football and rugby. Even basketball may get some brutal contact. For example, NBA referee Bob Delaney gave Shaquille O'Neal of the LA Lakers two technicals and an ejection for elbowing Andrei Kirilenko of the Utah Jazz. Obviously, that type of punishment is really garbage, in the fact that it was natural, and not intended. Shaq should appeal that.

But in this case of Todd Bertuzzi, it was intended, and so I decided to jump off Vancouver's bandwagon that day. The Canucks are doomed now.

I support the Canucks (as a citizen living in Vancouver should)
but I am very disappointed that Todd Bertuzzi did such thing
he did this for 'revenge'

this reminds me of Mike Tyson taking a bite of Evander Holyfield's ear

Hope He And The Team Have A Big Bank Account!!

Is a half a mil a real deterent or will it hardly faze em??
Will he still face assult charges from the law?

ya of course,
in basketball, there are contacts/hits,but a dirty hit (intentional) and a clean hit (unintentional) are really different

myself,as a person who literally grew up on the basketball court,
I get hit,I get elbow in the face/nose..stuff like that,
I understand it,most of the times I could tell if the opponent did it intentional or if it was natural
if it was intentional then of course I get piss off and might return a hit (but I won't try to severely injure someone, never ever),
but if it was natural then I just keep playing

the Vancouver Police is investigating and will decide rather or not they will charge Todd Bertuzzi for assault

this is the second time that the Vancouver Police investigating about violence incidents of NHL
in 2000,with 3 seconds left in the game
Edmonton Oilers' Marty McSorley slashed Donald Brasher's head with his hockey stick,
Brasher was hospitalized
Marty McSorley was found guilty for assualt and he disappeared from professional hockey

I remember a long time ago(maybe 15 or so years), a hockey player got his jugular vein sliced open out on the ice and there was blood shooting out everywhere. I remember the newscaster all excited about it and saying "don't look if you're squeamish" or something like that, knowing people would be gawking at it.

Do any of you remember that and know who the hockey player was?

when I watch sport games,I want to see competition, not violence,

if I want to see fights (and clean fights),I'd watch boxing, freestyle fight, martial art stuff

Used To Have Seats Just Behind The...

players box; boy did they smell near the end of the game!! One night a person was killed sitting 14 rows up & back by a slap shot to the temple. I never have been to another game.

Hockey sticks should be banned.

The should just kick the puck up and down the rink.

Call it ice soccer.

^hahaha everyone gonna stop watching hockey then..

and Frank D. White..those things wont happen again..cuz now they place Nettings on top of the rinks and stuff

Just because stamping on an opponent's head is pretty much legal in rugby, doesn't make it violent.
btw, I have like 5000 scars on my hips/thighs from being stamped on in rugby... Everybody picking on the little guy ><

wow,thanks Frank

but you know, sometimes I also get pissed off when the opponents play physical against me,like, but I understand thats part of the game,
but if the opponent do stuff like elbow me intentionally, thats another thing

even nice man like Yao Ming would get pissed off sometimes

 Gladiator....Hmmmmmmmmmmm, i could shine up my sword. I agree hockey has gotten out of hand. When i talk to people about hockey they don't know anything about the game. but now that fight that happened, they know the details to how long it happened to how many blows were thrown. Its not a sport that makes me want to watch it.

Nah. Hockey is all about the fighting. I don't think anyone would watch it if the fighting was banned. People want to see other people beat to smithereens, blood spewing everywhere. Sad state, it is.
