First, let me say, I have been to Japan many times. I lived there for a year and even worked in Japan and have made many trips there since. In fact, my wife was born in Japan. So travel to Japan isn't new to me. However, there is one trip I have never made and is an option this time.
This time there is an option to fly to Osaka first. I will be traveling to Iwakuni. Normally, I fly to Tokyo and then fly to Hiroshima. I'm wondering what the logistics are of getting from Osaka to Iwakuni by train. Since it's closer than Tokyo, traveling the final leg, by train, might be an option (albeit still long). But only if it's an easy trip.
1) Is it possible to go from Osaka to Iwakuni, without changing trains?
2) If it is, how far from the Osaka airport is it to get to the train? Some airports have easy access to trains. Not sure about Osaka, as I normally fly.
3) How long is the train trip?
4) What is the approximate cost (per person) from Osaka to Iwakuni?
5) Are reservations required?
