Could I get some help with 2 phrases?
1. 出逢ってからこれまでの時間を 感謝しておくんだ
2. 若い頃は、歳をとるのも嬉しかったな

1. I remember that ておく is for doing things in advance/for the future so would 感謝しておくんだ be I will be grateful with the んだ for assertation/emphasis? Or is it you should be grateful?

2. At first I went literally and thought it said they were happy the young grew old but it sounds kinda rude. Could it be substituted with grow up or does it change the meaning too much? Or perhaps is it I too was happy to grow old?

1)
Both are possible. It totally depends on the context.

2)
You seem to misunderstand 若い頃は.

1. I see, thanks.
2. Do you mean 若い頃 isn't youth? Or I just shouldn't be reading it together?
