Konbanwa minna!!! 🙂
Well, first of all, I'm not sure that this has to be here, :? but I didn't know where to put it (here or in the anime forum), so I decided to post it here... if I made a mistake, gomen, you can chage it... anyway, the point is that I'm curious to know what's the meaning of the word "Oniwabanshuu" (and the writing of it) that is the name of the group that appears in 'Rurouni Kenshin'. I try to find it with no results, so I thought that maybe someone of here could tell me.

Sore ja! 🙂

Oniwaban was a title of specialisation for the ninja. A scout was called monomi, eavesdroppers were called monokiki and castle guards were oniwaban.

im suprised someone would find this in a cartoon

Thor.. It's not a bad japanese cartoon, but a rather good one :)
And if you're not able to answer a question in someones thread, post something more useful than that! Or don't post at all!
I won't ruin the thread with a silly argument about this, so i won't respond to anything you may say in response to this post :sorry:

Konnichiwa Yami-san!

"Oniwabanshuu" is a proper noun and means "Ninja of shogun".
The literal meaning of "Oniwabanshuu" is the "guard group of courtyard".
"O" express polite word.
"Niwa" means courtyard.
"Ban" means guard.
"Shuu" means group.

Ohayo! 🙂
Thanks for the answers!
So the Oniwabanshuu were the ninjas of the shogun... in first place I thought that the meaning will be something relate with the demons or something, for the "oni" begin, but now I see that I was wrong 😊
Ok, thanks again!!
Sore ja! 🙂

Stop watching bad japanese cartoons.

That's rude. This anime happens to be a very good one with a lot of adult content, and only suitable for adults, maybe u should chek it out, Rurouni Kenshin.
