My final exams are coming up, and I always mess up on these differences. I know に is generallly used as a preposition , and で translates (to me) as roughly "by means of なになに". But I would really like to get this down pat by my final coming up in two days.
A classic example is:
きみはどこ ?住んでいますか?
and
日本 ? 留学したいんです。
These two classic examples were meant to teach me the difference, but it just isn't clicking, and am roughly having to 50/50 my chances on getting these questions right.
Recently, I've tried thinking of different ways I can use to help me memorize how to use them better. Once way is to determine if the verb is interacting with the object. If it is, it's a de, if not, it's a ni. I'm not sure if that's right, but I'll do my best, can anyone help me?
