Hi people.
I read some of the threads, some a bit scary you know about the seeming discrimination and sort, yet i guess life is all about challenges.

So is any body there who might give ma an advice on coming to japan..... and possibility of a job in teaching /training[ language or ]

Ok

The first step is to not post your question in the "Traveling, living & working in China" section.

I take it by your flag that you are Nigerian. That may hinder things a bit, but how about telling us some of your background (educational and vocational), plus your goals for work here. What do you WANT to do? Why Japan? When do you want to come?

What sort of teaching/training are you interested in?

Thanks for the reply.
Educationally, I have a higher Diploma in business management, another one in logistics and also, an NCE in education from a college of education and some certificate courses.
Though I still believe there is room for improvement, but i can say... i can almost put in my best possible education wise.

Aside that, I have taught in several secondary schools here in Nigeria, three to be precise.
I have also be invovled with a NGO organisation involved in youth development and empowerment a nd so many other activities like workking in a consultancy firm.

So, Why Japan?
I have always wanted to visit and work in an Asian country, so i concluded on Japan as a choose, the culture, curiousity and many more.

When do I want to come?
Once i can have a guide, a potential job offer-then i can relocate as soon as possible. All these i want to accomplish before the end of this year, 2008.

Sort of teaching?
Principally I can blend in with any type of teaching from sciences, english etc age grade very important, as i really dont like to pamper kindergarteens.

Sort of Job?
Any other good job offer would be appreciated , aside from teaching.

Thanks for your reply again.

Are your diplomas or NCE equivalent to a bachelor's degree?

You taught in secondary ed schools; do you have a teaching license?

To say you chose Japan because you have always wanted to work in Asia is like someone saying they chose Nigeria because they always wanted to work in Africa. Could you be a LITTLE MORE specific as to why Japan?

A guide?????

An advanced or higher diploma is not equivalent to a bachelor's degree, but higher than an ordinary diploma.

Well here we are not issued a teaching license: most teaching vacancies are in the Private secondary schools owned by individuals or groups while the Public schools are controlled by the government.

Well aside from teaching or working for an employer, I am mainly an independent person with a business like approach to issues. So japan came as a choice because of the opportunities in technology and good source of learning for me because i have a desire to get acquainted to things like automobiles[import and exports] and electronics.

So more like getting into japan, work and try floating my business.
My company name is provision logistics, and duly registered in Nigeria.

So I am more like an opportunity seeker with a genuine interest.

And i do appreciate your concern.

With no teaching license, you will probably not be eligible for teaching positions in international schools.

It is possible (I don't know how possible) that you might still get a work visa issued to you based on the combination of your education and teaching experience. It would have to be the Specialist in Humanities/International Relations work visa or maybe even the Instructor work visa (if you are interested in teaching). You can see the requirements for those and other work visas at the following site. You would have to convince immigration that all of your education (12 years of it) has been in English (or whatever language you wish to teach). Immigration still has the prehistoric notion that there are only a few native English speaking countries: USA, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Scotland.

Setting up a business with the investor/business manager work visa is not as easy as it sounds, but if you are undaunted, read the regs at that same web site. If you just want to bop in and out of the country to do trade with your business at home, then you may only need the multiple entry visa: http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/05-c.html

Thanks.
I got the message. I would check the following sites and see what i can get out from it.
Thanks.
I will brief you as soon as i get something done or make up my mind
You have really been helpful. I do appreciate that.
