Hi. My name is Seikoh Hokama, Spanish-Japanese-English
translator for Nikkei Netas Group.

I think most of you know that former president Alberto
Fujimori "escaped" from Peru to Japan, because of what
one of his men, Vladimiro Montesinos did.
Due to this, the Nikkei in Peru are being discriminated
in certain places, specially in Lima.

What do you think about this? Is it OK to discriminate
a race because an individual from that ethnic group
did something bad?

Hi Seikoh,

thanks for your interesting posting. It is tragic if innocent people are dragged into a conflict they have no responsibility for. Just take a look at the sad events that happened in NYC and Washington: since the involvement of Muslim extremists has been *more or less* substantiated, there's a tendency in the West to globally categorize Islam as a potential threat.

I personally have to admit that I do not have enough information in regard to Alberto Fujimori's period in power, but I would be very interested to know how Peruvian and non-Peruvian Nikkeis view his reign. How much support did Mr. Fujimori actually get from Nikkeis in Peru?
