Hey all,

I'm in between jobs in China this summer and would like to stay at my friends guesthouse in Tokyo for about a month or two. Just wondering if I could get some money in that time, and wanted to ask if you guys have heard of someone taking some temp job on a tourist visa. Any ideas would be appreciated!

If you look around this forum you will find numerous examples of people asking the same question or talking about doing what your asking about. But, as Mike said, it is illegal. You will see that information in most, if not all, of those threads as well.

If you qualify for a Working Holiday Visa in Japan via your country of citizenship then that would be an option.

If you are caught, you face penalties which could include 21 days of incarceration without a lawyer but with daily grilling, 3 million yen fine, and being banned from Japan for 5-10 years. Get a visa or don't do this.
