Searching for Kawahigashi Family in Osaka

10 Aug 2004
I made the following post roughly two years ago. I have tried to seach but have had no results, using the Japan Social Services. I am hoping someone may see this and know someone in my mom's family. There has got to be at least a sister or brother of hers still alive in Japan. My mom's name is Kunie Kawahigashi. She is in her 70s now and would be happy to know her family again. She has not seen her family in Osaka area since the 1960s.

She also lists her home again for employer from August 1954 to April 1960 at 192, Kiyu, Baba, Oaza, Takase, Moriguchi-shi, Osaka-fu.
She lists Namiji Wada as her employer from April 1960 to December 1962 as house helper at 881, Fussa, Fussa-machi, Nishitama-gun, Tokyo-to.
She then lists 62, Ushihama, Fussa-machi, Nishitama-gun, Tokyo-to doing housework from December 1962 to February 1964 (I assume that she lived at this address during that time....she said she worked around this house (no employer) during this time.

April 1960 to February 1964 at 62 Ushihama, Fussa-machi, Nishitama-gun, Tokyo-to.
She married my father, James Neel on June 22, 1964.
Also, the info listed in my original post about her sister and the little girl were not accurate because the photo I remember is of her sister Ayako with her son (the picture appears to be a boy). I have a letter that Ayako sent to my mom in the 1960s (after she married my dad and moved to Alaska) had an address of Seihuso 10-21, Funaki Ibaraki City, Osaka, Japan on it. It also lists her name as Ayako Morimoto. Also in this letter there is the following number: 0726 (24) 7095. Could this be a phone number?
Does Anyone know anything about obtaining a koseki? Or what means, other than Japan Social Services, I can use to access death records, phone books, etc. One user told me that there are 44 Kawahigashi-sans listed in the Osaka area (in the phone book), can anyone help me locate this information? Also, does anyone know if I can pay to publish something in a newspaper in Osaka.....I don't know the rules on this or if it would be possible. I don't know much about how things are done in Japan. I also don't speak Japanese. Thanks for all help!!!!
