I've seen a few teenagers with shirts depicting satanism and a church of satan in the Fukuoka prefecture. I was wondering if satanism was popular in Japan. 🎈

uhmmm not too sure really , quite a few of my j-friends wear all goth stuff like that. I know alot of japanese young teens like american rock bands, which usually have something to do with satan

you guys act like japan is soo different ''satanisim'' is everywhere is it popular it depends where you go in japan its like the usa

Yeah sounds like the same type of 'Satanism' kids in America and Australia do.

Eg: wear the black shirts, draw the (usually) innaccurate pentagrams, listen to some death metal and say bad things about jesus.

The type of 'satanists' that would soil themselves should they meet a real satanist.

You mean like Winter? (Actually, I think that he just likes the ideals, but is not actually a practicing Satanist.)

Manson, slipknot, papa roach, korn... i cant think of many , but i think they is a few more. There lyrics is usually about some one who is bleeding, and all the band members usually having something to do with satan worshipping.
It's all linked

I don't want to get philosophical however to believe in Satan you also have to believe in Jesus.

Not really, you can beleive whatever you want.

of course, but that's like saying that you only want to confirm the existance of YIN.

Not really. The concept of YIN is dependent on the concept of YAN, and vice versa.

On the other hand there have been 'heretics'* who believed that there was God but no devil (probably the other way around as well, but I'm not so sure of that).

* E.g. they lost.

if someone told me they were a "satanist", I would probably have the same reaction as if they told me they were an "evangelist"

there is no devil in the bible...
Of course not. It's hardly an ideal vacation spot for him. Now, if you check closely in your copy of the Wallstreet Journal ... :D

actually, if i'm correct, the devil pops up in the bible a few times here and there: during Jesus' 40 day desert holiday, as Lucifer in the old testament during the 10th plague, in fact im pretty sure that it was believed that anybody with a mental illness was possesed by the devil (and Jesus healed a few of those).

I wouldn't go as far as saying that Korn and Manson are satanists (and their fans definetly don't have to be as I and a lot of my friends listen to him but do not yet posses a black shirt with pentagons...), I would call them non-conformists since they don't embrace society and attempt to act different.

I think there just wearing it since its kool, I`ve seen a guy with a Che shirt and he didn`t even know who he was. I`ve also seen a lot of people wearing a rosary as a necklace. I don`t think there catholic.

nothing new on that side : go to Europe (anywhere...) and watch THOUSANDS of people (youg & old) wearing T-Shirts, trousers, carrying handbags or any sort of bags, and all kind of gadgets with CHINESE and/or Japanese words or caligraphy on them. Thousands of them. They even have tatoo, extremely populars.
The worst is that they have'nt a clue as to what it means. it could be injurious, no one would know... So for the CHE, its ok !
