Question about Japanese Goddesses

I am currently writing a research paper for my honors class on female deities and goddesses, and I chose Japanese goddesses as my topic. I have a question to ask of people living in or having recently visited Japan: how are goddesses such as Amaterasu worshiped nowadays? This includes any goddesses from Buddhism as well. Are they still worshiped, less prominently or more than when they were introduced?

Any insight on this would be appreciated. Thank you!

Simple answer: none are truly worshiped nowadays. There might be an annual festival to celebrate an ancient concept of a deity here and there, but that's about it. Amaterasu has been around for thousands of years.
