Hi there. In my book I'm learning how to make prohibition statements with te forms at the moment with the ' haikemasen ' formula. My question is, how do I pronounce this?

Do I pronounce it as 'ha (space) ikemasen'

Or

'Haikemasen' with no space?

Thanks

Hmm best to stop using romaji ASAP. ては行けません is pronounced as tewa ikemasen as the は here is acting as a particle.

Oh, okay. Is the 'te' before the 'wa' just short for a te verb or does te actually have to be there? I use my phone so no kana on here :L

It's short for a te-form (so te-forms that use de, like 飲んではいけません, are acceptable).
