Hello, native English speakers.
Would someone please check my sentences?

(1) There are many people who can't/couldn't live without their cellphones.

(2) I have a friend whose father runs a nice restaurant in this town.

Both sentences are perfectly fine.

In the first, both "can't" and "couldn't" are fine. Also, "cellphone(s)" or "cell phone(s)" (i.e., one word or two words) are both fine. The two-word variation is more common.
