How can those (1)( in , with, on ) plenty of food help those who don't have enough? Some people in Japan came up with a simple but very effective answer to that question.

(a)According to the United Nations, more than 900 million people worldwide are thought to be undernourished. On the other hand, a large number of people in <1> countries, which include Japan and the U.S., suffer from health problems caused by <2>.
A Japanese project known (2)( for, as, to ) “Table for Two”(TFT) is trying to address
(b)( exists / that / the / imbalance / between ) the rich and not-so-rich parts of the world. The name (c)( that / is / to / suggest / meant ) a person in a developed country and a person in a developing country can eat at the same <3> table. In Japan, you can order a meal (4)( certify ) as healthy by TFT. A <4> of twenty yen per meal (5)( order ) in Japan is then sent to such <5> countries as Ethiopia, Uganda, and Malawi, where the money is used to pay for healthy school lunches. In this way, TFT (3)( encourages, discourages, disappoints ) healthy eating here in Japan and (6)( provide ) nutritious meals for schoolchildren in distant countries.

The TFT project was started in the cafeterias of six Japanese <6> in 2007. The founders of the project determined that the twenty yen was enough to cover the cost of one school lunch in a developing country. Kogure Masahisa, the founder of TFT, says that this small donation can connect us to the less fortunate far <7>: “Giving twenty yen (7)( show ) that we are responsible <8> of the world.”
The school lunches TFT provides are both hot and nutritious. Meals such as corn-flour cakes with a sauce of beans and <9> are (8)( serve ) regularly. If this service (9)( be ) stopped, the children would just eat <10> food such as bananas or tomatoes.

[3] (4)(5)(6)(7)(8)(9)の動詞を適切な形に変えなさい。

[4] 下線部(a)の文を日本語に訳しなさい。

[5] (b)(c)の下線部の語を並び替えて、意味の通る英文にしなさい。

My Japanese is terrible. Does this mean to choose the word (ア、イ、ウ) that has stress at the same place as the word by the number? That can't be right, that would mean that multiple answers need to be chosen:

3. イ

I'm sure I probably just don't understand the question.

問2 次の( )に一語ずつ書き入れ、日本語の意味になる英文を作りなさい。it'sのような短縮形は一語とします。

This seems more vocabulary-oriented than grammar-oriented, so I'm skipping this. A lot of these are words I don't know, and I don't think it'll help you to see what I find in a dictionary or Google Translate.

I've got to say, #5 is straight-up evil. It's at a level where I wouldn't be surprised to find it on the ACT. A lot of young native speakers would legitimately be tripped up by this, both because "to found" is an uncommon word and because it's seen alongside "find".

問6 ( )の中に一語ずつ入れて、(a)と(b)の文がほぼ同じ意味になるようにしなさい。[1点]

What so you mean by "straight-up evil" and "the ACT"?

I'll change 問6 into this. Would it have only one answer?
(a) More than 7 billion people exist on the Earth.
(b) ( ) are more than 7 billion people on the Earth.

"Straight-up" is a slang expression that means "truly". Using a slang expression like that is one way to express intentional hyperbole. So in that context, I meant to hyperbolically refer to the question as "evil" because it's a trick question. ("Evil" is used hyperbolically a fair amount in casual conversation.)

The ACT is just a standardized test that Americans take usually in 11th grade (it's used by colleges and universities to evaluate applicants):

ACT (test) - Wikipedia

So in short, I was just saying that the question is tricky and somewhat advanced.

I'll change 問6 into this. Would it have only one answer?
(a) More than 7 billion people exist on the Earth.
(b) ( ) are more than 7 billion people on the Earth.
Yes, only "There" works in that case.

Thank you for the help and explanation, Julimaruchan.

I didn't know about the ACT though I knew a little about the SAT.

By the way, wouldn't any of the following sentences be used ?
(a1) He can't play baseball very well.
(a2) He doesn't play baseball very well.
(b1) He can't speak English very well.
(b2) He doesn't speak English very well.

And I'd like you to check the English sentences I made for 問7[6] if you have time.

(a) The meals TFT provides are usually uncooked food such as bananas and tomatoes.
(b) The TFT project, which is founded by Kogure Masahisa, was stopped in 2007.
(c) The school lunches TFT provides include corn-flour cakes with a sauce of beans and vegetables.
(d) There is an imbalance between developed and developing countries.

Yeah, all of those would be used. "He isn't very good at Baseball" and "His English is not very good" are just far more common.

B seems to mix up past tense with present tense. It's in a way that native speakers would do it that way too, so not a massive deal, but I think it should be:

"The TFT project, which had been founded by Kogure Masahisa, was stopped in 2007."

C describes something unfamiliar to me, but the "sauce of beans and vegetables", is that literally beans and vegetables mashed together? That's what it sounds like. I'd also be more likely to call it a paste than a sauce, but it's not terribly important as long as you can explain what it is.

Nothing else wrong or weird I can see here.

It's from the textbook. So I'm not sure what it is like.

The answers look correct to me.
(6.) These cars will be sent to developing countries such as Ethiopia, Uganda, and Malawi.
(11.) Two million yen can cover all the costs. (this on is slightly difficult because "cost" can be a collective noun depending on the context. with the words "all the" though it makes it sound as if there are multiple costs. You could use cost if it's collective of the costs of a certain thing. For example, "Two million yen can cover the entire cost of the project.")

The textbook goes like this:
A donation of twenty yen per meal ordered in Japan is then sent to such developing countries as Ethiopia, Uganda, and Malawi, where the money is used to pay for healthy school lunches.

Does this sentence sound odd to you?
