Hi everyone. I have been living and woking in Japan for a couple of years. I have full-time employment on a Humanities/Engineer visa. Before moving to Japan I was an audio engineer and video editor for television shows and commercials in several countries. I have been asked to edit & mix shows from the US here remotely (online). My questions are A. Do I have the proper visa to legally do this kind of work and B. Do I need to file taxes locally for money that I would receive internationally into my Japanese bank account?

In relation to your visa; I think the more relevant question is whether or not your Japanese employer allows you to perform this work. I don't think there is any visa violation if you perform work for clients outside of Japan while being employed legally by your Japanese employer.
Yes your income earned overseas and remitted to Japan needs to be reported to your employer and the tax authorities.
