What's new

Okonomiyaki

it's one of my favorite foods. i like the hiroshima-style better than the osaka-style though, but they're both awesome.

Once had the wife make me this after she told me what it was. She says alot of students make this when money gets tight. But with the mayo and the right sauce its great!. I keep asking her to make it but she doesn't. We keep getting traditional japanese food instead. Mind ya. not that I am complaining. Sushi will never get old in my place. (Once bought a tray with over 55 of them. all different types and they did not last long.)

This is definately #1 on my list of to-try things but every Japanese resturant I call or have eaten at doesn't know what I am talking about when I ask for it. Wierd. 😲

Make it yourself, it's not that hard. Find a recipe and get one of those hotplates that can cook right at the table. Then you can make it there, at the table, while you chat with with your friends. I recommend to put some octopus in there if you like that. It is great in okonomiyaki!

I love this stuff! It's too bad not one serves it around my area

What about Okonomiyaki potato chips? I just finished a whole pack and I am gobbling down another pack right now (This is my dinner) ... I can buy them from Chinese or Japanese gorcery stores in Toronto. They taste really good and once you start it's difficult to stop. For all other junk food junkies like me, check it out at Calbee Okonomiyaki Potato Chips
Maybe you can order a box at wholesale price from this site or other sites. I am sure some wholesalers sell Calbee's Potato Chips online by boxes.

Sound interesting 👍
I've never seen them yet anywhere, but I'll look for them.

How authentic are the Japanese resturants by where you live? By my mom's house, there are a bunch of Japanese/Sushi places but most of them are run by Koreans (go figure), so the quality and authenticity is not so good and I'm pretty sure none of them have okonomiyaki. But if you can find an authentic izakaya type place they might serve it.
