Ok, after years and years I am finally going to Japan...this year. Everything is almost in stone and I will be going in/around November, there are just a few questions I would like to ask.

I will be getting a Japan Rail pass for most probably 14 days as I will be staying from 11-14 days in Japan. I will be going all over, Tokyo, Osaka, Horshima, Kyoto , Miyajima, Hemiji, Hakone......

First question are there any flights that go from mainland japan to okinawa, I have obviously looked around and couldn't find anything.

Is there much to see in Osaka, I plan to stay a night there, but alot said I shouldn't bother as there isn't much.

Japanese trains, I will be taking a medium size case and I know there isn't much space on the trains, should i bother carrying it around or do the narita lugage express, if anyone has experience.

If anyone can help with the last few questions that will be greatly appreciated. I do apologise for the kiddy questions as I have looked up as much information for myself as i could possibly can. I have been along time member on the forum but not a big poster so I have attained alot of knowledge, now I can finally have my dream relised.

Danke....

Luke

congratulations on your upcoming trip. It sounds like you're going to get a lot of use out of that rail pass!

Yes, there are domestic flights to Okinawa and back; I've flown from Haneda airport (near Tokyo) to the one in Naha.

There's a decent amount to see in Osaka. Namba and Doutombori are probably the most famous sights, but there's also Osaka castle if you're into historical sites. I had a lot of fun walking around the shopping areas in Umeda. Give it a day, you could even just make it a day trip if you're staying in Kyoto, Nara, or Kobe.

Considering how much travelling you're talking about, I would actually recommend taking as little luggage as possible. A good backpack and maybe a small suitcase should be a fair amount of space. I would take a duffel bag that can be folded up and stuffed in the suitcase, in case you buy more stuff while you're there. The more luggage you have, the more of a hassle it will be to ride around on the train. Chances are you will be spending a good amount of time on normal trains as well as the shinkansen.

good luck with your journey!

I'm back again, after sorting all the hotels out and etc...I would now like to ask one final thing...

Does anyone know of good hotels/Ryokan, I would prefer ryokan in Hiroshima and Hemiji. For the life of me I can't seem to find a decent place in Hemiji....more of the bottom - average range, but no hostel....

I admit it, I am a complete cheapskate and look for the lowest of the low, but I do really want to experience japan so that's why the hotels I have chosen are pretty much ryokan....
